All of us work mainly by appointment only, with the exception of small walk ins when we have the availability. Deposits are a great placeholder for your artists time and commitment as well as your own. Deposit price may vary depending on the size or placement of your project, but they all come out of the final cost of the tattoo. Once you’ve paid your deposit with an artist and have set an appointment date, you must give a minimum of 24 hours notice before your appointment if you need to reschedule. All of us are very understanding of life events and emergencies, so communication is key. If you are over 30 minutes late for your scheduled appointment with no contact it is considered a no show. We allow one reschedule per deposit. If two appointments in a row are missed, the deposit will unfortunately be forfeited for the artists time and set-up. Tipping is also greatly appreciated to cover any costs of our supplies, but not required!
Finding a good artist that understands your creative expression with your tattoos can be very difficult. Each of us artists here at Obsidian Tattoo Studio all have different styles, ideas and passions. However we all can unite on these few basic rules of respect for each other and our customers.
Appointment Information and Studio Policies
Deposits/No Show Policy
Consent Form
When you arrive for your appointment, we will have you fill out our consent form. This document ensures your safety and ours as well. You will need to bring in a valid photo identification with you to your appointment so that you can upload it to our virtual consent form. We cannot tattoo anyone under the age of 18 (even with parental consent) to follow New Mexico’s state laws. Please be sure to mention any health conditions or concerns to your artist prior to starting the tattoo to prevent worsening your symptoms. We are unable to tattoo any women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or anyone who is already fighting infection or illness. This form is another way we can check in on you to make sure you’ve had food and water before your appointment, which we also offer during your tattoo to keep you charged!
What to Wear/Aftercare
Here at Obsidian we deeply care about the comfort and safety of our clients. Please always feel free to bring any comfort items you’ll need for your time in the chair. Wear something breathable that can also keep you warm, and all black if possible. If you are getting a more intimate area tattooed, feel free to cover up as much as you feel comfortable with. Clothing like boxer shorts, draw string bikinis, and button up flannels worn backwards are all key essentials to staying warm while also keeping the tattooed area exposed. We also offer privacy blinds when necessary. Bactine spray is typically used after line work with clients consent. Pillows are available as well to support your body and prevent aches. We all typically use saniderm second skin bandages to help our customers heal their tattoos a little easier, but if you have any allergies to adhesive or concerns about the bandage please let us know! We have more in depth aftercare instructions available in the studio as well. Never hesitate to reach out to your artist with any questions about healing your new tattoo!
